Thompson, K. (1999). The
Absolutely Essential Eloise. New York: Simon & Schuster.
Eloise is a spunky six-year old who
lives with her nanny, her dog, and her turtle in the Plaza Hotel in New York
City. The book is written the way Eloise speaks. This makes the book difficult
for students to read, however, it is perfect for a read aloud. Eloise’s
thoughts are hilariously portrayed when read fluently by a teacher to children.
