Wonder

Palacio, R. (2012). Wonder. New York: Alfred A. Knopf.

August Pullman is a ten-year old boy born with extreme facial abnormalities, not expected to live past infancy. Auggy goes from being homeschooled to middle school and his world is turned upside down. The story chronicles Auggy and his family’s struggles through the eyes of him and his family and friends. This is a moving story about acceptance, friendship, and love. I recommend it for a book club, literature circle, or read aloud in a fifth or sixth grade classroom.

This book is nominated for the Young Hoosier Book Award.
